Skytoll: State Loses €730,000 on Temporarily Toll-Free Roads

Bratislava, January 20 (TASR) - Slovakia's road-toll system launched at the beginning of 2010 earned the state €4.1 million to January 19, the system's operator Skytoll said on Wednesday, adding that the proceeds come from vehicles heavier than 3.5 tonnes liable to toll charges.

So far 109,000 vehicles have been registered in the system.

The toll operator also told reporters, however, that the state has lost €730,000 to date due to the Government's decision on January 11 to exempt 1st-class roads from toll payments between the middle and end of January.

The exemption is reported on the Net as being necessary while tolled stretches are divided into shorter sections, without further clarification.
