Slota: I Have Reservations About Accepting Guantanamo Prisoners

Bratislava, January 19 (TASR) - Slovak National Party (SNS) chairman Jan Slota said on Tuesday that he has serious doubts regarding Slovakia's decision to accept former Guantanamo Bay prisoners.

Slota was reacting to Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajcak's announcement that Slovakia will accept three Guantanamo prisoners, selected on an individual basis.

"These persons are suspected of committing extremely serious criminal activities and they're about to be mingled into our society," said Slota in defence of his stance.

According to Interior Minister Robert Kalinak, the three prisoners are not suspected of terrorism or criminal activities of any kind. He claimed that the Slovak people are perfectly safe, but declined to provide any further information.
