SARIO: Now-active Investment Projects Could Bring Some 12,000 Jobs

Bratislava, January 18 (TASR) - Slovak Investment and Trade Investment Agency (SARIO) has currently 139 investment projects registered, TASR has learnt.

"Of these, as many as 85 are active projects worth €2.42-2.53 billion, with prospects for creating 11,696-12,675 jobs," said SARIO spokesman Marian Janosik.

It was reported that, among other things, Slovakia's adoption of the euro last year is spurring on new investments as it provides investors with greater financial stability during these times of global economic crisis.

"Having the euro introduced often represents a key factor for investors in their decision-making process - especially when it comes to investment allocations in Central and Eastern Europe. This was the case of one of the biggest investments of 2009 - the Taiwanese firm called AU Optronics Trencin (which manufactures LCD modules - ed. note)," added SARIO general manager Juraj Kiesel.
