Bratislava, January 16 (TASR) - The introduction of the euro in Slovakia brought financial stability, which amid the economic crisis is viewed in the positive light particularly by foreign investors, Director General of the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO) Juraj Kiesel has told TASR.
"The euro is oftentimes the key factor for investors when it comes to deciding where to place investments within central and eastern Europe. After all, this is proved by one of this year's most successful investments - Taiwanese AUO Trencin investment, where the euro was one of the key factors impacting the decision," Kiesel said.
According to Kiesel, stable exchange rate developments help investors in their projections of costs and expenditure. "Thanks to the euro, the international trade is simpler and more intensive, as it lowers the risk of losses resulting from exchange rates on the back of global foreign exchange volatility," he noted.
Work on a total of 154 investment projects has been launched. The projects represent a total value of €4.97 billion and have a potential to create 29,042 jobs, said Kiesel.
