Bratislava, January 15 (TASR) - Former governor of Slovakia's central bank (NBS) Ivan Sramko said on Friday that his work this year as Slovak ambassador to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris will mainly be focused on the impacts of the global economic crisis.
"In 2010, the most important thing will be to pick the right tools to eliminate its negative impacts on public finances and the pension system, and to stimulate economic growth," Sramko told TASR.
The decision to appoint the ex-governor to the post of Slovakia's ambassador to the OECD was confirmed earlier this week by Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajcak. Sramko is expected to begin working in his new post in the next few weeks. He will replace Jana Kotova, who began representing Slovakia in Paris in 2005.
