Average Salaries in November Rose Most in Industry - by 3.5% Y-o-Y

Bratislava, January 14 (TASR) - Average nominal monthly salaries in November 2009 rose most year-on-year in industry - by 3.5 percent, the Statistics Office (SU) reported on Thursday.
The average nominal monthly salary increase in retail in November stood at 1.5 percent year-on-year, while only a slight increase was seen in restaurants and pubs - by 0.1 percent.
Conversely, average nominal monthly salaries fell y-o-y in the sale and maintenance of motor vehicles - by 7 percent, in wholesale - by 5.5 percent, and selected market services - by 3.7 percent.
Compared to November 2008, real salaries rose by 3.1 percent in industry and by 1.1 percent in retail. Conversely, real salaries fell on an annual basis in the sale and maintenance of motor vehicles - by 7.4 percent, in wholesale - 5.9 percent, and in selected market services - 4.1 percent.
In the first eleven months of 2009, meanwhile, the average nominal monthly salary for employees working in information and communications reached €1,513.01 per month. Other average monthly salaries for the period were: in industry - €744.82, and in selected market services - €733.43.
Compared to the same period in 2008, average nominal monthly salaries between January-November rose in selected market services - by 5.4 percent, in accommodation - by 4.3 percent, in retail - by 3.7 percent, and in restaurants and pubs - by 3 percent.
Meanwhile, real salaries in the same period rose y-o-y in selected market services - by 3.6 percent, in accommodation - by 2.6 percent, in retail - by 2 percent, and in restaurants and pubs - by 1.3 percent.
