Bratislava, January 13 (TASR) - Slovakia will send humanitarian material assistance worth €100,000 to Albania on Thursday, Ludmila Stanova from the Foreign Affairs Minister Office's press department told TASR on Wednesday.
Heavy rains lasting several weeks have caused extensive floods in the northern part of Albania. Around 5,000 people have been evacuated and 2,500 houses flooded. The threat continues in the region and the situation may become even worse, prompting the Albanian authorities to make an official appeal for assistance. Slovakia will provide electrical generators, pumps, waterproof and warm clothes and medicines.
