Bratislava, January 13 (TASR) - Transport Minister Lubomir Vazny said Wednesday he thought that an airport employee from the Air Traffic Control shared the blame for the incident at the airport in Poprad (Presov region) last week where police left behind explosives in the luggage of an unsuspecting Slovak passenger on a flight to Ireland.
On Monday the ministry had confirmed the case is also being probed by the Slovak Aviation Authority, which reports to European institutions. "I first have to wait to see the report, so that I am not jumping to conclusions," he said after the Government's weekly policy session.
SME daily reported on Monday that the departure could have been prevented had there not been a communication failure with Air Traffic Controllers. The paper is in possession of the transcript between police, ATC and pilot.
The case turned into international embarrassment for Slovakia, with Interior Minister Robert Kalinak apologising to Irish justice minister Dermot Ahern over the incident.
