Fico: Breaking Law Is Road to Hell

Bratislava, January 12 (TASR) - Inciting people to break the law is a road to hell that the Government rejects, said Premier Robert Fico after a meeting with President Ivan Gasparovic and Parliamentary Chairman Pavol Paska on Tuesday.
Fico's statement came in reaction to protests held by road hauliers against the introduction of the electronic road-toll system with the support of the Opposition and media. According to Fico, such activity dangerously undermines democracy in Slovakia. "I see a dangerous phenomenon emerging in which even law-breaking, disorder and chaos are promoted as valid means of fighting the Government," he cautioned, adding that it is unacceptable for the Opposition and media to engage in direct support for illegal activities.
Gasparovic also criticised the protesting hauliers. "I'm sorry about what has happened, when protests are conducted in a way that violates the Constitution and laws," he said. According to him, the Opposition and media are inciting people into "something that doesn't contribute to the stability of Slovakia".
The carriers, who were blocking Roznavska Street in Bratislava with lorries in their protest, lifted their blockade on Monday night.
