Trencin, November 21 (TASR) - The ethnic-Hungarian Most-Hid party delegates have elected economic expert Ivan Svejna as their fourth vice-chairman at a third party congress in Trencin on Saturday.
Svejna will focus on the economy issues. Up until Saturday, the Most-Hid had only three vice-chairs: Zsolt Simon, Edita Pfundtner and Rudolf Chmel.
Svejna was nominated by the party chairman Bela Bugar and the delegates embraced his proposal. The delegates also evaluated the results of the higher territorial unit (VUC) elections, which has shown, according to Bugar, the actual popularity the party has acquired not only in southern region (where a numerous ethnic-Hungarian minority lives), but northern region as well. The party has gained only three MPs in VUC elections, but expressed satisfaction with its electorate support.
The ethnic-Hungarian SMK party representatives were wrong, when they said that the voters in southern regions do not need another ethnic-Hungarian party, according to Bugar. The Most-Hid has secured one third of all ballots in the region. "The ethnic-Hungarian voters were used to poll, but creation of the Most-Hid party has taught them to vote," said Bugar.
