Bugar: Most-Hid Supports Opposition Candidates in Second Round of VUC Elections

Trencin, November 21 (TASR) - Sympathisers of the Most-Hid party will support the Opposition candidates in the second, run-off round of the higher territorial unit (VUC) elections, said Most-Hid chairman Bela Bugar at a party congress in Trencin on Saturday.

Bugar stressed that recommending to constituents who should they vote for is within the remit of regional party chairmen and most of them have used this authority.

Bugar thinks that it's premature to speculate which future coalition will the Most-Hid party belong to. However, he would appreciate the formation of some centre-right coalition, as was the case in 1998, which led to the formation of Mikulas Dzurinda's government. A similar alternative has not appeared in Slovakia yet. It's a matter of an agreement, said Bugar.

In connection with this he noted that Most-Hid party was showing interest to come to an agreement with ethnic-Hungarian SMK party in second round of the VUC election. SMK, however, was not interested, which was to the detriment of several candidates of both parties, who were not elected for Members of Regional Parliaments (MRPs), concluded Bugar.
