UNAS: Cilek's Statements Can Radicalise Situation in Bratislava

Zvolen, January (TASR) - The Association of Slovak Hauliers (UNAS) considers statements made by Bratislava deputy mayor Milan Cilek on Friday as harmful and warns that they may radicalise the situation in Bratislava, Jaroslav Polacek from UNAS told TASR on Saturday, adding that they don't want the situation to become even more complicated.

Cilek said on Friday that Bratislava people can't be held hostage in the conflict between UNAS and Transport Ministry, which has resulted in protests of carriers in the capital due to the newly-introduced electronic road-toll system. The city of Bratislava calls on both sides to resolve the conflict as quickly as possible.

"UNAS is grateful for solidarity and a fact that Slovak people view our requirements as a problem that concerns the whole society. We're pleased that people are interested in how much will the goods in shops and petrol at filling stations cost. As we've said many times before, we agree with introduction of the road-toll system, but (we want it) as it was described by the (transport) minister (Lubomir Vazny) - i.e. a fair toll system," said Polacek, expressing thanks for the understanding and support expressed to hauliers on facebook and UNAS website.
