Bratislava, January 5 (TASR) - Slovakia's Anti-drug Office has arrested a 46-year-old Nigerian suspected of importing cocaine into Slovakia, Police Presidium spokesperson Martin Korch told TASR on Thursday.
The smuggler was caught at Bratislava Airport on December 31 after arriving on a flight from Girona. Police officers discovered that the man was hiding cocaine capsules containing a total of 300 grams inside his body. The Nigerian is now facing accusations of drug crimes, for which he could be sentenced to up to 20 years in jail.
The seized cocaine, which was probably heading for the Austrian black market, would have provided 7,000 doses with a total value of €115,000.
The suspect is now in custody due to fears of an escape attempt, but his lawyer has already filed a complaint against this decision.
