NKU: Inspection on Notice-board Tender Continues in 2010

Bratislava, January 4 (TASR) - The inspection carried out by the Supreme Audit Office (NKU) at the Construction and Regional Development Ministry vis-a-vis the so-called notice-board tender is continuing into 2010, NKU PR manager Lenka Nosalova told TASR on Monday.

"The inspection concerning the efficiency of using financial means from the state budget to carry out the agreement concluded between the Construction Ministry and the winning consortium of companies is going on at present," said Nosalova, adding that due to the extensive amount of documents, it isn't possible to specify when the inspection, which was begun in November 2009, will be completed.

The Construction Ministry in 2008 announced a tender for supplying various legal and advertising services co-financed by the EU Funds solely on a notice-board located within the ministry's headquarters. The ministry, run by the Slovak National Party (SNS), subsequently signed an agreement with the winning bidder - a consortium that included two companies called Zamedia and Avocat - and paid out part of the money for the services. It came to light later that both Zamedia and Avocat are close to SNS chairman Jan Slota and that the consortium's bid was extremely expensive.
