NATO Wives Bazaar Donates €7,000 to Two Slovak Charities

Bratislava, January 4 (TASR) - Two Slovak non-profit making organisations will share between them the €7,000 that they received from NATO charity organisation Wives Bazaar at the Slovak Armed Forces HQ in Bratislava on Monday.
Representing Slovakia at the NATO Wives Bazaar, which brings together the spouses of national representatives on the Atlantic Alliance's Military Committee, Slavka Kucova presented a cheque to New Home from Prievidza (Trencin region) and Salty Days Friends (Liptovsky Mikulas - Zilina region), whose projects took 6th and 16th place among a total of 24 international projects.
Prievidza's Novy Domov, which helps severely-disabled children and youth in and around the city, seeks to secure a more valuable life for such people. "So that they may have a fully cultural life up to the standard of our healthy one," said Gabriela Skurakova, head of the organisation, which intends to spend the money on reconstructing its building.
Salty Days Friends in Liptovsky Mikulas was awarded for its project called 'Thanks for Better Inhalation', which is aimed at helping families that include members with cystic fibrosis. "This regards inhalers, which Slovak insurers don't pay for ... They help people with cystic fibrosis a great deal," said Jana Sipekova from the organisation.
Chief-of-General-Staff of the Slovak Armed Forces Lubomir Bulik, who also attended the ceremony, said that the two projects were well produced and of high quality. "This helps the Slovak Armed Forces to establish themselves within the Atlantic Alliance, whose various activities include the NATO Wives Bazaar," he said.
