Dual Display of Prices Voluntary until June 30, 2010

Bratislava, January 3 (TASR) - Dual display of prices on receipts made by electronic cash registers (ERP) was mandatory until December 31, 2009, but as of the beginning of 2010 this will be voluntary until June 30, 2010 – when the Slovak koruna will be consigned to history.

The amended legislation on ERP use, in effect since March 2009, tightens up the regime for keeping records on revenues as well as other technicalities with an eye towards preventing tax evasion.

Some of these new regulations don't sit well with representatives of Slovakia's Trade and Tourism Union (ZOCR). For example, "the new 12-month certification process is much too costly and could put some retailers out of business," said ZOCR's Legal Section chairman Martin Katriak.
