More Than 15 million Mobile Phone Calls Made on New Year's Eve

Bratislava, January 1 (TASR) - More than 15 million mobile-phone calls were made on New Year's Eve, TASR learnt from Slovakia's three mobile-phone operators on New Year's Day.
Fewer SMS messages were sent on New Year's Eve than on Christmas Eve - around 9.5 million (compared to more than 30 million on Christmas Eve), while the number of MMS messages was 143,000.
The operators agreed that the busiest period was the hour just after midnight.
Throughout the whole day and the following night, 4.5 million SMS messages and 72,000 MMS messages were sent by clients of Orange, while around 6.4 million calls were made by customers of the same network.
T-Mobile told TASR that its network was 20 percent busier on New Year's Eve than on Christmas Eve, with 6.6 million phone calls, 2.94 million SMS messages and 39,000 MMS messages.
Customers of Telefonica O2 Slovakia sent more than 1.89 million SMS messages and 32,000 MMS messages on New Year's Eve and overnight, and made more than 2.46 million calls.
Around 13 million mobile phone calls were made in Slovakia on Christmas Eve.
