Belousovova: I Want to Improve My English in New Year

Bratislava, December 31 (TASR) - Improving her English skills and obtaining a driving licence - these are the New Year resolutions of co-ruling Slovak National Party (SNS) first vice-chair Anna Belousovova, TASR learnt on New Year's Eve.

Opposition SDKU-DS MP Peter Misik told TASR that he usually makes impossible New Year's resolutions, and 2010 will be no exception. He didn't specify further, however.

Conversely, ethnic-Hungarian SMK vice-chairman Miklos Duray said that he doesn't make any New Year resolutions. "It's childish. An adult man should be principled and should know what to do," he said sternly.

Duray's former party-mate Bela Bugar, who set up a new party called Most-Hid in June, also said that people shouldn't make any special resolutions on New Year's Day, but should strive to be better and better throughout the year.

Parliamentary foreign affairs committee chairman Juraj Horvath (Smer-SD) intends to think more about his health in 2010, which includes more exercise and getting into fine fettle. In addition, he wants to organise his time better next year so that he will be able to meet the people he likes.

Another three parliamentarians approached by TASR - coalition MPs Robert Madej (Smer-SD) and Tibor Cabaj (LS-HZDS), and opposition Christian Democrats (KDH) MP Pavol Abrhan - also rejected any notion of New Year resolutions. "Once upon a time, I wished myself good health, but I'm able to manage other matters," said Cabaj.
