Bratislava, December 30 (TASR) - Transport, Posts and Telecommunications Minister Lubomir Vazny on Wednesday will meet transport companies that are unhappy with the launch of the electronic road-toll system as of January 1, ministry spokesman Stanislav Jurikovic told TASR on the same day.
Small and medium-sized carriers want to present 11 demands to the minister, with the most significant one being a postponement in the launch of the system by six months.
"I think that the system hasn't been prepared well. I believe that following a full consideration, not only due to our pressure, the ministry will back up and will delay the launch of the system," TASR was told by Jaroslav Polacek, a member of the organisational committee that represents more than 150 transport companies.
The results of the meeting are expected to be known in the afternoon. The carriers said that if their demands aren't met they are ready to initiate a blockade on Monday. "If the system is launched on January 1, we'll meet - as announced - at Slovak petrol stations on January 4 and will exert enormous pressure," stressed Polacek.
