Bratislava, December 30 (TASR) - The LS-HZDS party will definitely be in power again in the future, "and if things go the way they are now, then there'll be a government that will feature LS-HZDS next time or at least after 2014," party chairman Vladimir Meciar has told TASR.
HZDS has undergone numerous personnel changes in 2009, with quite a few young people joining the circle of Meciar's closest allies. "Whether I like it or not, a generational change must take place in the party after 20 years. The change is happening on a continual basis," said the former three-time premier. "Although I've picked educated and adroit people, it still takes some time for the public to accept them," he added.
HZDS is no longer a party that's endorsed mainly by elderly people, he said. Despite the results of some public opinion polls that place HZDS below the 5-percent threshold needed to win seats in Parliament, the 'rejuvenated' party stands a good chance of scoring well in next year's general election and is set to receive over 10 percent of the votes cast, he added.
