Slota: Roma Criminals Should Go to Jail

Bratislava, December 30 (TASR) - The Slovak National Party (SNS) proposes adopting an unequivocal stance on the inhabitants of Roma settlements, claiming that law enforcement vis-a-vis the Roma is less than minimal.
"We've been concerned about the Gypsy problem for a long time. People who want a job need to get one, and those who don't want to work but only steal and rob need to go to jail," claimed SNS chairman Jan Slota.
On behalf of SNS, party vice-chair Anna Belousovova repeatedly proposed the creation of special boarding schools for educating "socially-disabled children". "You know, you can only reform young Gypsies. When someone turns 40-50, you won't be able to change his habits anymore. We need to talk about this problem and not about some bald-headed nutcase running around Michalany (Presov region)," said Slota, referring to the recent activities of far-right organisation Slovenska Pospolitost (Slovak Togetherness) and its leader Marian Kotleba.
"It's bad that you (journalists) even mention them (Pospolitost) and so advertise them for free. They're just a bunch of unimportant idiots. If you stopped writing about them, they'd go out like a smoked-out pipe. If anything, it should be said loud and clear that they're in contact with Jobbik [a far-right Hungarian party - ed. note]. In cahoots with Hungarian extremists, what kind of revolutionaries are they?" asked Slota.
When asked about the ban on the Hungarian Guard, which is also said to have links with Slovak extremists, Slota said that the ban didn't prevent a Jobbik MEP walking around the European Parliament in a Guard uniform.
