Bratislava, December 29 (TASR) - Confidence in the Slovak economy continued to grow in December, when the Indicator of Economic Sentiment (IES) increased by 2.9 to 82.3 points month-on-month, the Slovak Statistics Office (SU SR) reported on Tuesday.
The index has also increased slightly (0.1) y-o-y, but is down 18 points compared to the long-term average. "The growth in the index was influenced by improvements in the development of all components included in the calculations," stated SU SR.
The deterioration in consumer confidence in Slovakia also came to a halt in December, with the indicator rising by 7.2 m-o-m to 26 points due to less public pessimism when evaluating all its four components.
A significant improvement was recorded especially in the evaluation of expected developments vis-a-vis the economy and unemployment in the country. From the y-o-y perspective, consumer confidence improved by 4 points.
