Jahnatek: State in Talks With More than 100 Investors

Bratislava, December 29 (TASR) - The Economy Ministry is holding talks with 136 investors on placing their investments in Slovakia, Economy Minister Lubomir Jahnatek told TASR on Tuesday.

"There are ten investors with which talks have gone quite a long way," he added. "It's foreseen that the aforementioned ten investment stimuli could bring to Slovakia investments totalling approximately €680 million and would create more than 4,200 jobs," he added.

"I'm not allowed to speak about specific investors, because the Economy Ministry never makes any comments about which investor is to come. I can only say that the investors are from the spheres of precision engineering, the food-processing industry and tourism," he added.

"We'll see how the state will be able to help, because the investors have quite demanding requests for direct state aid," he said, adding that the state budget doesn't allow for such extensive financial assistance.

"We'll see how the first quarter of next year goes, and what the closing accounts for 2009 will be. Then we'll get in touch with the Finance Ministry immediately to discuss possible further investment stimuli," added Jahnatek.
