Bratislava, December 28 (TASR) - The year 2009 was demanding for Bratislava from the very beginning especially from the financial point of view, said the city's mayor Andrej Durkovsky on Monday.
On the other hand, the city managed to begin construction work such as the reconstruction of the Ondrej Nepela Ice Hockey Stadium, which is important not only for the city but also for the whole country, said the mayor.
Developments at the top of the political scene also influenced the development of the city, and not always positively, said Durkovsky.
According to him, legislation is necessary for Bratislava to profit from almost all investments in its area. He said that it shouldn't be small developers such as those who build family houses be affected, but the large ones. "That is an issue I deem important," he stated.
Durkovsky also said that while on one hand the activities of developers have been partly strangled, on the other the market is being cleansed, and the strongest projects with good prospects and financial cover will survive. "It's a healing process," he said.
