Most Slovaks Believe Government Not Interested in Tackling Corruption

Bratislava, December 25 (TASR) - Six out of ten Slovaks think that the Government has no real intention of tackling the issue of corruption, while one-third of the population thinks otherwise, says the survey published recently by the Focus agency.
Hence, half a year before the parliamentary elections, Robert Fico's Government has received the same appraisal as the former government of Mikulas Dzurinda scored at the end of its term in 2006.
Supporters of the Coalition parties are also not fully convinced that the Government is serious in its effort to fight corruption, as only 50 percent of Smer-SD voters, 45 percent of LS-HZDS and 40 percent of SNS trust the Government in this issue.
In 2004, majority of the voters of the former government parties shared opinion that the coalition at that time had true interest in addressing the corruption.
