Bratislava, November 19 (TASR) - The first part of Bratislava's M.R. Stefanik Airport's new terminal should have a trial run in May and be fully operational by the summer, Airport's Board of Directors Chairman Zdenek Schraml announced on Thursday.
Construction work at the new terminal will be divided into two phases. The first is planned to be completed in summer 2010 and should increase the capacity to some 3-3.5 million passengers yearly. Later, a second construction phase will up the total annual capacity to 5 million passengers.
The construction is being carried out by ZIPP Bratislava, which won the tender with a bid of €92.94 million. A portion of this (€26 million) will be financed from the airport's own resources, and the airport has borrowed the remainder.
