Bratislava, January 3 (TASR) - Radio and Television of Slovakia (RTS) interim director Miroslava Zemkova on Monday decided that the institution in its current situation won't pay out any bonuses that aren't prescribed by law.
Zemkova has also put a halt to all moves aimed at purchasing property or hiring new employees in line with a stopgap budget announced on January 1, the day on which RTS was formed by the merger of public broadcasters Slovak Radio (SRo) and Slovak Television (STV).
"During the stopgap period, decision-making on the use of finances will be centralised within Slovak Radio's economic department," said the former Slovak Radio director.
Zemkova was appointed as RTS interim head on January 1 by Parliamentary Chairman Richard Sulik, who stated that he preferred Zemkova to STV director Stefan Niznansky because "she managed Slovak Radio far better than Niznansky did Slovak Television." A more permanent RTS director should be elected by Parliament within three months.
