Bratislava, December 21 (TASR) - The claims of most of the clients of SkyEurope Airlines who were left with unusable tickets when the company collapsed at the end of August have already been processed by Slovak banks, TASR was told by banks approached on Monday.
Slovenska sporitelna bank (SLSP) received more than 1,100 requests for reimbursement, out of which 900 are already being processed. "We'd paid almost 400 clients by December 10, with the (total) sum amounting to almost €75,000," said SLSP's spokesman Stefan Frimmer.
Almost all claims have already been resolved by UniCredit Bank Slovakia. "We've processed approximately 350 requests worth €50,000. There are still around 20 claims pending due to the fact that they were submitted only recently," stated the bank's spokesperson Zuzana Dudakova.
Tatra banka received 1,561 claims. "By December 10, we had processed 1,172 of them," said spokesman Boris Gandel, adding that Tatra banka considers views concerning money paid to its clients as for internal use only.
CSOB bank has registered around 570 requests from SkyEurope clients. "The claims are being handled continuously, while around half of the claimants have already received their money back so far," said Zuzana Francuzova.
VUB bank clients submitted 1,343 claims in total. "We've already paid out €125,444 to 892 travellers. Another 350 are still waiting for their money," said VUB's spokesperson Alena Walterova.
SkyEurope unsuccessfully attempted restructuring several months before it went bust. Bankruptcy proceedings began at the beginning of September of this year, but the administrator requested recently that the process be ended due to a lack of assets on the airline's part.
