Akcenta CZ Demands Financial Compensation from Banks for Cartel

Bratislava, December 21 (TASR) - Akcenta CZ suffered immense financial losses due to the cartel agreement between VUB Bank, Slovenska Sporitelna (SLSP) and CSOB, Akcenta spokesman Juraj Martiny told TASR on Monday.

"It should be noted that the fine that has been imposed by the Anti-monopoly Office (PMU) will go fully into Slovakia's state accounts. Akcenta CZ considers its claim for financial compensation for the illegal conduct of banks to be justified," said Martiny, adding that Akcenta isn't willing to be active in this dispute anymore, so it has passed its financial claims to a company called GRACCIOLO Limited. This company was set up in July with the single aim of extracting compensation from the banks. According to representatives of Akcenta CZ, the damage the company suffered amounts to €30 million for each bank.

"Entrepreneurs of VUB, SLSP and CSOB agreed to terminate contracts on current accounts that had been opened in those banks by Akcenta CZ, and that current accounts wouldn't be renewed again in the future," said the PMU.

According to the PMU's decision, the highest fine should be paid by VUB - €3.81 million, followed by SLSP - €3.197 million, and CSOB - €3.183 million.
