Bratislava, January 1 (TASR) - Makeshift budget and appointing deputy directors will be my first steps on the post of Radio and Television Slovakia (RTS) head, said Miroslava Zemkova, who was appointed RTS interim director on Saturday.
RTS as a new public service institution came into existence on Saturday following merger of the Slovak Television (STV) and the Slovak Radio (SRo).
"Daniela Vasinova (SRo economic section director) will become the deputy director for Slovak Radio and Lubos Machaj (SRo programme section director) will become deputy director for the Slovak Television," Zemkova's spokesperson Alexandra Stullerova Korenova told TASR.
Zemkova was chosen by Parliamentary Chairman Richard Sulik (Freedom and Solidarity/SaS), who had two candidates to choose from. Apart from Zemkova, there was also STV director Stefan Niznansky.
"Ms. Zemkova has certainly been managing the Slovak Radio better than Mr. Niznansky managed the Slovak Television," Sulik's personal assistant Tatiana Tothova said about his reasons for appointing Zemkova.
