Jurzyca: Teachers' Active Work With Pupils Should be Rewarded

Bratislava, December 28 (TASR) - Teachers needn't be concerned about any substantial changes in the upcoming year, but the Education Ministry is committed to improving the education system, with teachers set to receive remuneration for extra-curricula activities with pupils, Education Minister Eugen Jurzyca has said in an interview for TASR.

Jurzyca noted that teachers as state employees have been given an exemption from projected salary cuts.

Meanwhile, the ministry is planning to task head teachers with allocating a portion of the credits that teachers receive and that boost their salaries. "Head teachers will then be able to motivate teachers who help pupils ... We also aim to come up with a system whereby teachers would receive credits for their work with pupils," the minister added.
