Bratislava, December 27 (TASR) - Parliamentary Chairman Richard Sulik (Freedom and Solidarity/SaS) is set to decide by the end of the week who will become interim director of Radio and Television Slovakia (RTS) following the merger of public broadcasters Slovak Television (STV) and Slovak Radio (SRo) as of January 1, Sulik's secretary Tatiana Tothova told TASR on Monday.
In line with a law passed by Parliament on December 15, Sulik should choose either current STV general director Stefan Niznansky or SRo head Miloslava Zemkova.
Sulik has already held meetings with both candidates. According to TASR's information, Zemkova hasn't accepted Sulik's terms to date.
"Just wait and see," said Sulik when asked who will be chosen. He added that a new (i.e. not interim) RTS general director could well be elected by Parliament within the next three months.
[Next year (2011) will be one of transition, as the SRo and STV trademarks will still be present albeit under a single management - ed. note]
