PAS: Entrepreneurs View 2010 With Very Wary Optimism

Bratislava, December 26 (TASR) - Entrepreneurs when looking back at 2010 feel a very wary level of optimism for the future, executive director of the Slovak Business Alliance (PAS) Robert Kicina has told TASR.

The quality of the business environment was influenced by two major events in 2010 - the rightist Coalition taking power and a cautious post-crisis recovery in the world economy, which is so central for economic developments in Slovakia, he noted.

"The new Government Manifesto was praised by most entrepreneurs, that is, if its various parts come to fruition this may spell a better quality business environment and job creation," said Kicina.

However, the Coalition's fragile majority in Parliament and differing stances on certain issues pertinent to entrepreneurs have provoked uncertainty among entrepreneurs, he said.

According to Kicina, developments next year will mainly hinge on the Government's ability to put its pledges into practice, especially those concerning better law enforceability, less red tape, better education and changes in the system of taxes and social levies. These elements as they currently stand are long-term and daily impediments to entrepreneurship in Slovakia, he stated.
