Bratislava, December 20 (TASR) - The Government is likely to discuss the so-called major amendment to the Labour Code in April, Labour Minister Jozef Mihal (Freedom and Solidarity/SaS) said at a press conference held after the Slovak Economic and Social Council (tripartite of labour, business and government) met on Monday.
"A complete Labour Code proposal should be drafted by the end of February 2011, and will be submitted for comments in the standard way," according to Mihal
In October, the tripartite decided to create a working group tasked with discussing the Labour Code proposal. "The working group has met twice. Unfortunately, at the last meeting the Confederation of Trade Unions (KOZ) representatives said that they don't want to take part in these sessions, as the Labour Ministry hasn't submitted the comprehensive proposal yet. Sadly, the ministry doesn't have the proposal because that's exactly what the working group was created to do," said Mihal.
"We left because we want the Labour Ministry to submit a comprehensive proposal as to how do they want to change the Labour Code," said KOZ Vice-President Vladimir Mojs.
The unionists will continue to discuss the changes that are in the offing with the employers at the bipartite level.
