Bratislava, December 20 (TASR) - Newly-elected mayor of Bratislava's Old Town Tatiana Rosova was sworn in on Monday, receiving the pertinent insignia from outgoing mayor Andrej Petrek at the first session of the new council following the local elections in November, TASR learnt later in the day.
Handing over to Rosova (SDKU-DS, SaS, KDH and Most-Hid), Petrek said that he's leaving office with favourable economic results and a borough free of debts and loans. "Transparency International has ranked us as the sixth most transparent district in Slovakia," he said.
At the session, chair of the local electoral commission Tomas Cerny expressed appreciation for the smooth running of the election in the borough, with its 38 percent turnout.
In her address to the councillors, Rosova vowed to be ready to respond to public opinion concerning life in the Old Town in order to boost quality of life in the area. "We'll work under daily scrutiny," she said.
After all the 17 newly-elected councillors were sworn in, deputy mayors Peter Osusky and Peter Krta (both SDKU-DS, SaS, KDH and Most-Hid) were elected. In addition, the new mayor's monthly salary of €4,780 was okayed by 12 out of 17 the councillors.
