Kramplova: I'd Like to Be in Parliament But It's Not My Priority

Bratislava, December 20 (TASR) - MP Zdenka Kramplova, who was expelled from the LS-HZDS party in November, told TASR on Sunday that she would also like to gain a seat in Parliament in the next electoral term, adding that this isn't her priority, however.
"Of course I'd like to be in Parliament in the next electoral term, but it isn't a condition. The priority is to do what you enjoy and what's beneficial," she said, adding that "activities in Parliament aren't always beneficial".
Kramplova confirmed that she still has political ambitions, but what comes next will depend on the situation. "Today I can't say what will happen. Several things are going on at the moment, maybe there will be a surprise," she said, noting that she's had several offers from parliamentary and extra-parliamentary parties. "Right now I'm collecting offers and I'll make my decision later," said the former agriculture minister. She thinks that the extra-parliamentary sphere could be more interesting under certain circumstances.
Kramplova is still a member of the HZDS parliamentary caucus, where she will remain until the end of the electoral term, despite not being a party member since November. She was forced to leave the party for breaking the party's statutes by not informing the party leadership that she was standing in the recent Higher Territorial Unit (VUC) elections. Kramplova signed a commitment stating that if she left LS-HZDS she would give up her MP's mandate. "Let's see whether she makes good on this," ventured party chairman Vladimir Meciar at the beginning of November.
"As for party membership, she's terminated it. She takes part in votes in the caucus, however," stated Meciar.
Kramplova reacted by saying that she won't give up her mandate voluntarily, as she deems the commitment she signed to be only a moral pledge. Moreover, different statutes were in force in HZDS at the time that she signed the commitment.
