Bratislava, December 15 (TASR) - Slovakia will support the establishment of the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) as an international organisation with headquarters in Vienna, with the Government passing the proposal of its founding treaty on Wednesday.
The International Anti-Corruption Academy is an international intergovernmental organisation aimed to overcome current shortcomings in knowledge and practice in the field of anti-corruption. It represents the first public institution of its kind at the international level. The Academy was established at the founding conference on September 2 in Vienna.
IACA will function as an independent centre of excellence in the field of anti-corruption education, training, networking and cooperation, as well as academic research. It will take a holistic and inter-disciplinary, inter-regional, inter-cultural and inter-sectorial approach.
Participants and students will broaden their knowledge of anti-corruption issues through a combination of research work, practical experience and case studies. IACA will offer advanced research and best practices to foster the international exchange of knowledge among academics, students, civil servants, private sector practitioners, experts and representatives of civil society organisations.
Overall annual operation costs are estimated at €3-5 million, with Slovakia contributing €3,000 to the Academy next year.
