Foreign Affairs Ministry Welcomes Miroslav Lajcak's Appointment

Bratislava, December 14 (TASR) - The Foreign Affairs Ministry welcomes the appointment of [ex-foreign affairs minister under Robert Fico's government - ed.note] Miroslav Lajcak to the post of European External Action Service (EEAS) Managing Director for the relations with the Western Balkans, Eastern Partnership and Russia, TASR learned Tuesday from Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Lubos Schwarzbacher.
"We view this appointment as the appreciation of the candidate's personal qualities and also acknowledgment of Slovak diplomacy and its long-term involvement in eastern and south-eastern Europe as well as in the development of co-operation and building relations between the EU and these countries," according to the ministry statement.
