Miklos: All Necessary Steps Must Be Taken to Ensure Survival of Euro

Bratislava, December 13 (TASR) - The euro should stay in circulation and every step necessary must be taken towards that aim, Finance Minister Ivan Miklos (SDKU-DS) reacted this way on Monday when asked whether it's possible to revert to the former Slovak currency, the Slovak koruna.
Slovakia should remain part of the eurozone. "Of course, one must stand ready for all possible scenarios but for now, it's necessary to do our utmost to keep the euro alive and strong," he said.
His coalition partner Parliamentary Speaker Richard Sulik (Freedom and Solidarity/SaS) sees things in a different light, however. "It's about time that Slovakia stops blindly trusting the talk of eurozone leaders and draft a plan B," Sulik wrote in his commentary for Monday's issue of Hospodarske Noviny daily.
