November Saw Fastest Rise in Foodstuff Prices in 2 Years at 5.1% y-o-y

Bratislava, December 13 (TASR) - Prices of goods and services rose by 1 percent year-on-year in November, with the rate thus unchanged compared to October 2010, the Statistics Office announced on Monday.
The price increase was chiefly due to higher prices of foodstuffs and alcohol-free beverages, which went up by 5.1 percent on the year. The items recorded their fastest price increase in the past two years.
As well, prices in education rose by 4.5 prices compared to November 2009, with alcohol and tobacco products rising by 2 percent over the same period.
Meanwhile, furniture prices dropped by 2.7 percent year-on-year.
Compared to October 2010, a rise of 0.3 percent was recorded. Core and net inflation in November stood at 1.5 percent and 0.4 percent, respectively.
Between January and November 2010, meanwhile, prices grew by 0.9 percent y-o-y.
