Enterpreneurs: Public Expenditures Need More Radical Cuts

Bratislava, December 11 (TASR) - The Association of Slovak Entrepreneurs (ZPS) views the approved state budget for 2011 as a 'transitive' one, designed to bridge two different periods - that of budgetary irresponsibility and that of restoring fiscal discipline in public sector. However, public finance should be cut in a more radical way on the expenditure side of the budget, according to ZAPS.
Entrepreneurs are convinced that the consolidation features of the budget are inevitable to be tailored in, but noted that the consolidation attempts alone don't represent the substantial pretext for improving the prospects of Slovakia's economy. What's also important, they say, is the will to implement tools aimed at improving the business environment, which needs to remain listed among the top priorities of the Government.
In view of the fact that the 2011 budget was compiled in a rushy way, it wouldn't be realistic to expect it to introduce any fundamental system changes, said ZAPS. Entrepreneurs welcome the Government's intention to squeeze the budget deficit under 5 percent, but they criticise the fact that the Government wants to do so via increasing the absolute volume of both revenues and expenditures at the same time.
