Bugar: Most-Hid to Discuss Its Future in Coalition on Monday

Bratislava, December 10 (TASR) - The party presidium of Most-Hid (bridge in Slovak and Hungarian) will hold a session on Monday to discuss the party's future in the governing Coalition, Most-Hid chairman Bela Bugar told TASR on Friday.

Partners from the Coalition are accusing Most-Hid of dashing their hopes of electing Jozef Centes as prosecutor-general last week. They say that it was Most-Hid MPs that secretly voted for incumbent Prosecutor General Dobroslav Trnka in the prosecutor-general election last week despite a Coalition agreement on backing Jozef Centes.

Most-Hid, which has a total of 14 MPs (four of whom are OKS/Civil Conservative Party members that got their seats through preferential balloting), will inform its partners about the results of the discussion at a Coalition Council session later on Monday.

"We'll discuss whether it is possible to continue in such an atmosphere, but I wouldn't say that we're going to leave. Such threats are inappropriate," said Bugar.

SDKU-DS MP Zoltan Horvath recently revealed a theory, according to which Most-Hid MP Elemer Jakab marked Centes's name on his ballot, then had several party-mates take a picture of it to prove that they had voted for Centes.

Jakab subsequently spoiled his ballot and asked for a new one, which he - without further supervision - cast for Trnka. [In the December 3 vote, there were 74 votes for Trnka, 73 for Centes and two spoiled ballots. Therefore, it can be said that at least four coalition MPs voted for Trnka; or six MPs didn't vote for Centes, as had previously agreed - ed. note.]

Bugar claims that when he saw Jakab's ballot marked with a black blot next to Centes's name (rather than a circle around it), he asked him to ask for a new ballot. Bugar is furious with Horvath, saying that he is retaliating for Most-Hid's unwillingness to back his bid for mayor of Galanta (Trnava region) last month. Bugar added that if Horvath doesn't stop with the accusations, he will file a criminal complaint against him.
