OKS: Trnka Has Disqualified Himself as Prosecutor-General

Bratislava, December 8 (TASR) - Prosecutor-General Dobroslav Trnka has definitely joined the political battle for the post of prosecutor-general, thereby disqualifying himself from holding the post, Peter Zajac, chairman of the Civil Conservative Party (OKS) elected to Parliament on Most-Hid's slate, told TASR on Wednesday.
By lambasting Interior Minister Daniel Lipsic (Christian Democrats/KDH), Interior Ministry State Secretary Maros Zilinka (KDH) and Police Corps President Jaroslav Spisiak, Trnka has gone beyond the boundaries of neutrality as expected from a prosecutor general, said Zajac.
Trnka earlier on Wednesday appeared at a press conference at which he claimed that the Interior Ministry put pressure on the investigator dealing with the case of a recording on which a voice similar to that of Smer-SD chairman Robert Fico is talking about securing money to run a political party.
Trnka's bid for re-election as Prosecutor General is defended primarily by Smer, while the governing Coalition (obviously apart from certain MPs that secretly voted for Trnka recently) is eager to see him replaced.
