Miskov: Authorities to Be Held Accountable for Incorrect Information

Bratislava, December 6 (TASR) - A so-called "provisionally-binding declaration" should be introduced soon to help small and medium-sized entrepreneurs, Economy Minister Juraj Miskov said after meeting representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce on Monday.
A survey carried out recently by AmCham among small and medium-sized entrepreneurs indicated the need to make the status of public authorities and entrepreneurs equal so that the authorities can also be held accountable for providing incorrect information.
"This measure is very important for entrepreneurs who struggle with various interpretations of legislation and frequently ask the authorities for clarification ... Public offices, such as the tax office, will release binding declarations, and if a self-employed person obtains one of these the office won't be able to penalise him later when it comes to that particular case," said Miskov.
Another measure aimed at improving the entrepreneurial environment in Slovakia concerns increasing stability in the tax and deductions system. According to Miskov, the Economy Ministry and Finance Ministry would ensure that tax and deduction laws were amended only once a year as of January 1.
