Coalition Will Obstruct Prosecutor-General Vote and Make It Open

Bratislava, December 6 (TASR) - Representatives of the four coalition parties agreed on Monday that they will obstruct the vote vis-a-vis selecting the new prosecutor-general in Parliament on Tuesday by taking away their ballot papers. They will then change legislation to make most votes in Parliament that are currently secret open in the future.

"The people who voted for us have the right to know for whom they have voted and for whom their MPs vote. In the case of all other laws in which billions of euros are in question or decisions about people are made, voting is open," stressed Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) chairman Richard Sulik at a press conference after the session. He conceded that the third round of the vote may take place in February, when the term of office of current Prosecutor-General Dobroslav Trnka will already have ended.

"This is a very important part of our discussion, everything else is derived from this key foundation. I'm convinced that we'll manage to cope with this sensitive period," said SDKU-DS chairman Mikulas Dzurinda.

The heads of the coalition parties vehemently denied speculation concerning an attempt to reconstruct the Government.
