Hrusovsky: Trust Within Coalition Is at Freezing Point

Bratislava, December 3 (TASR) - Trust within the governing Coalition is at freezing point, and the conscience and morals needed to make important decisions have disappeared, said Christian Democrats (KDH) caucus leader Pavol Hrusovsky in Parliament on Friday.
"We've sunk very low," added Most-Hid chairman Bela Bugar.
Some coalition MPs failed to act according to an agreement in the vote for the post of prosecutor-general on Thursday, voting for the Opposition's candidate Dobroslav Trnka instead of joint coalition nominee Jozef Centes.
Hrusovky also said that he isn't prepared to work in such an environment. "Because with such a relationship between MPs in which we can see that somebody is lying, am I supposed to act as an investigator? [Should I] suspect anyone on the basis of speculation? It isn't possible to do politics in this way," he complained.
"This level of distrust that has appeared among us doesn't give any guarantee that a similar situation can never be repeated. It's impossible to live in this uncertainty, nor work or manage the country," stressed Hrusovsky, echoed by SDKU-DS MP Jozef Mikus.
Bugar said that his faith in the Coalition was dented in November, when the vote for the Prosecutor General took place for the first time. "When in one coalition caucus [SDKU-DS - ed. note] they began speculating as to whom they'd support - Hrivnak or Trnka. That was when my faith was dented," he stated.
Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) MP Martin Poliacik views the situation in the Coalition as "a crisis of a few individuals who should decide whether their petty interests are more important than this governing Coalition".
