Bratislava, November 30 (TASR) - Slovakia's Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled that national lottery company Tipos illegally used the trademarks of Czech betting company Sportka in the past.
Tipos will therefore have to pay more than €14 million to Cypriot firm Lemikon Limited, which owns Sportka's financial claim.
In its ruling, the Appeal Court also partially recognised an appeal submitted by Prosecutor-General Dobroslav Trnka in 2008 against an earlier Supreme Court decision vis-a-vis a case involving Tipos and Sportka.
According to the Supreme Court ruling in August 2008, Tipos was supposed to pay a total of €66.39 million to Cypriot company Lemikon Ltd., which is owned by Czech businessman Radovan Vitek, by the end of November 2008, after Tipos lost a legal dispute with Sportka in which the former was accused of stealing the latter's lottery know-how.
