Bratislava, November 24 (TASR) - Premier Iveta Radicova will head the Slovak delegation at the upcoming international climate conference in Cancun, Mexico, it was announced on Wednesday.
The conference is set to take place between November 29-December 10, with top-level talks scheduled for the last three days of the event. At this point Radicova will present Slovakia's programme aimed at revitalising the landscape and at the integrated management of its river basins. The programme is designed to ensure that the country and its landscape will be better prepared to resist climate change.
At the talks, Slovakia will reconsider its support for the Second Commitment Period for the Kyoto Protocol. Slovakia will only support this on condition that it becomes part of a broader legal framework that will ensure that all countries, both developed and underdeveloped, take part in the discussion to an adequate level and observe the principle of joint but at the same time individual accountability.
