Bratislava, November 22 (TASR) - Around 50 percent of Slovak citizens take a critical view of the investigation into the case involving ethnic-Hungarian former student Hedviga Malinova, who claims that she was beaten up in Nitra in 2006 after she was heard speaking Hungarian on her mobile-phone.
This is according to a survey published on Monday that was carried out by the Public Affairs Institute (IVO) on a sample of 1,038 respondents between November 3-9.
Conversely, 21 percent of those surveyed said that they are satisfied with the way in which the case has been investigated to date, while another 29 percent said that they are either not interested in the investigation or were unable to comment on it.
The Hedviga Malinova case emerged back in 2006 when the student told the police that she had been attacked by two skinheads on her way to university. The police later halted the investigation, stating that no attack took place.
Malinova, now married and called Zakova, now faces accusations of perjury based on the assumption that she made the whole story up.
