Bratislava, December 18 (TASR) - Prime Minister Robert Fico said after a meeting with director of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV) Jaromir Pastorek that he will support the Encyclopaedia Beliana project with €170,000 from his reserve in 2010.
Fico described the work which has been prepared by SAV in several volumes for years as unique. "Every country, like as it has its own flag, anthem and all other signs, should have its own encyclopaedia," he stressed. He noted that the seventh volume of the encyclopaedia is currently just about ready to be completed.
"I recommend this work to everybody. I think schools, state institutions, and people that have an interest should have it at home," said Fico.
The premier announced that he will also support from the reserve SAV's archaeological research. "We've agreed that they will receive a one-off €332,000 in 2010," said Fico.
According to the premier, by June 2010 SAV should draw up a strategic document on Slovakia's development until 2030. "This document can't be drawn up by clerks at ministries nor private firms. Such a document can be drawn up only by a qualified institution such as SAV," emphasised Fico, adding that the document should serve as a base for every government manifesto until 2030.
